Page 459 Longespee
.vi Ida Longespee, married Walter FitzRobert
displayed as a legitimate daughter of William Longespee, Earl of Salisbury and Ela of Salisbury

Remark : Doug was arguing against overwhelming contrary opinions. On page 459 she is included with no references, unlike all her siblings for whom impressive recitals are given. On page 326, showing as the wife of Walter FitzRobert, there is indeed an impressive recital. But no doubt has been indicated.

Remark : In Gerald Pagets The Lineage & Ancestry of HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Volume One page 15, Ida is shown to be a daughter of William Longespee (II) and Idonea de Camville, making her a grandchild of William Longespee (I) and Ela of Salisbury.

In Ancestral Roots, seventh edition, by Frederick Lewis Weis, page 15, expresses doubts as to her parentage: Though peerage articles, including CP V 472), have long identified Ida as daughter of William Longespee (I) and Ela of Salisbury, it is clear that their daughter Ida actually married (1) Ralph de Somersy and (2) William Beauchamp. (CP XII (1) note g. which says that Ida living 10 April 1262). Moriarty (ms at NEHGS) suggested William Longespee (I) had two daughters Ida, or Idoine, which may be correct. But there appears almost a generation difference between the two Idas, so the chroniclers may have missed a generation and Ida (wife of Walter FitzRobert) may be the daughter of Williams son William Longespee (II).
