Alan Hawkins has made available to me a great resource for learning of
the early Roman Catholic priests and their parishes in Ontario. Starting
in the late 1600s these travelled throughout Ontario using the rivers and
lakes as their highways. In the course of their travels they helped start
settlements in areas like Sandwich and Detroit. The story of their travels
and parish work is told in the Mugan Manuscript, which was reprinted in The
Sarnia Canadian Observer, and is reproduced here as image files produced from
scans of the 6 parts of the newspaper article.

As well, he has compiled a chronology of the priests who served in Lambton County,
and provided a list of some LaForge marriage records for the area.
