Helen Woolsey is the dau of Asa T. Woolsey (H. E.) (1819-aft 1880) of Onondaga County, New York and Lake County, Ohio, and Ann, born 1825 in Nova Scotia.
Asa T. (H. E.) Woolsey is the son of Luther Smith Woolsey of Onondaga County, New York and Keturah Bloomer of Onondaga County, New York, and Allen County, Indiana.
Asa T. Woolsey was also a brother of Luther Smith Woolsey, Jr. who moved to California.
Luther Smith Woolsey, Jr, had a daughter May Hollister Woolsey, who died two months shy of her thirteenth birthday on 2 Sep 1879. Some 100 years later, a trunk containing some of her belongings was discovered concealed in the walls of the old Woolsey home. It contained a letter, the contents of which suggested that it had been written by May to her mother from beyond the grave. This information has been
provided by Marilyn Demas who is trying to identify names mentioned in letters placed in the trunk.
