Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut Land Records.    FHL# 005676.    20:256.
25 Sep 1828.    Charles Sawyer of Amenia, Dutchess Co, NY TO Isaac Woolsey of Amenia for $500 land in Sharon bounded beginning at a heap of stones in the S line of the highway being N 57o E 2 rods 10 links distant from the NW corner of the school house, then crossing the saw mill pond S 48o 15' E to the line of lands which Oliver Kellogg, Esqr bought of Captain James Reed thence N in the east line about 21 rods 14 links to stones on a rock near the grist mill dam and as much further N as the E lines of lands which said Oliver Kellogg bought of Capt. Read extends further N, then a straight line to a heap of stones in the line of the highway, bearing N 36o W about 16 rods 13 links from the aforesaid bounds on the rock near the dam then in line of the highway S 40o 10' W 24 rods & 16 links to the beginning, containing about 2 acres together with the same and all the priviledges of building & repairing the dam which Capt. Reed deeded to Oliver Kellogg & the priviledge of continuing the same forever at its present height being 6' 7” high from the rock at the bottom of the stream at about an equal distance from the floom to the E and of the base of the dam which is supposed to be about an average height of the dam and also the priviledge of using the road which leads from the highway to the mill site on the E side of the schoolhouse for the purpose of passing & inpassing to & from said mill site reserving to Oliver Kellogg etc of flowing any part of the above described land which may or is liable to be flowed by always keeping the saw mill dam or any dam at the place where the same mill dam now stands to the height which the said dam now is, which is 8' 4” high above the bogttom of the brook about midway from the floom to the E end of the dam measuring from about the lowest spot in the rock at that place, also prohibiting said Isaac Woolsey etc from erecting a sawmill on any part of said premises or any machinery for carding wool or for falling or dressing cloth & from ever using any of the water of said stream to be used for either of the foresaid purposes etc Wit: Oliver Kellogg, Jr. John J.
