  2. Richard Harcourt of Highlands md Mercy Latting and their daughter Esther Harcourt married Richard Woolsey, son of Rev. William Woolsey and Sarah Lewis. Richard Woolsey & Esther Harcourt had a large family.

  4. Benjamin Woolsey is Benjamin M. Woolsey, son of Richard Woolsey & Sarah Fowler, who md. Margaret Teller.
  5. Thomas Woolsey is probably the Rev. Thomas Woolsey, son of Richard Woolsey & Sarah Fowler, who md. Elizabeth Waters, daughter of Anthony Waters, Jr. and Elizabeth Whitehead.

James Brister had the west 137 acres of Lot #1 and sold it to James Wheeler in 1774. but Brister was taxed for it in 1765. James Wheeler also had the farm which Imperato Brothers owned and he sold it to John and Thomas Woolsey in 1764. Arthur Merritt, father of Barbara M. Batten, had the Woolsey deed which may have been the oldest pice of documentary history extant for the "new settlement".

Lewis D Boys of the Marlborough Society in the Precinct of New Burgh, Ulster Co, NY, gentleman of the one part and Stephen Case and John Woolsey Trustees of the said Marlborough Society of the same place yeoman of the second part FOR five shillings and consideration of that Eternal Love and Regard he hath for and toward the Propogation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and agreeable to the Articles of the Kirk of Scotland in the Presbeterian Faith in the said Marlborough Society, TO the said trustees one acres and a half of land for to build a Meeting House on and for a Burying Yard for ye Benefit and advantage of the Said Marlborough Society, it being part of a tract of 1,000 acres whereon the said Lewis D. Boys now dwells beginning on the South line of the said Tract on the East side of the Kings Road that leads from New Burgh to Kingstown in Esopias at a stone set up in the ground marked with the letters M.B.Y. (for meeting house & Burying Yard) thence Easterly along said south line as it runs joining the land of Stephen Case three chains and 87 links then keeping that width and parrellel with the said Kings Road until it include one acre and a half of land. Thomas Knowlton, Sr. and Anna (Woolsey?) had a large family, including a son Robert W. (Woolsey?) Knowlton who md Mary Gay. Robert W. Knowlton & Mary Gay had a son Robert Woolsey Knowlton who md. Miriam Gaylord, indicating a close connection to the Woolsey family.
  3. The witness Richard Woolsey is most likely the Rev. Richard Woolsey, Jr. son of the original Richard Woolsey. Rev. Richard Woolsey, Jr. md. Ann Fuller, daughter of an unknown Fuller (Fowler?)

Apparently Joseph Cole located in Ulster County about 1767 or 1768. Later deeds identify him as of New Paltz precinct, Ulster County, New York. These deeds bearing date of 1 Aug 1774, 10 Aug 1774 and 11 Aug 1774 were no doubt made as he was selling all his property preparatory to making his home in Virginia. These deeds were acknowledged in Dutchess County, New York, Scituate, Plymouth, MA, and Providence, Providence, RI. (See Bristol Deeds).
