[p. 2] The twentieth day of April in the Foure & Thirty of the Reigne of our Souwaiyne Lady Elizabeth by the Grace of God Queene of England Ffrance & Ireland defender of the faith etc Anno Do 1595
I Willim Wolsey of Langhall in the countie of Norff-- , yeoman, being sick in bodye but of good & perfect Remembrance thanks be unto god therefore Doe make & Declare this my last will & Testament in manner & forme followinge - VIZt -
Ffirste & before all things I commend my soule into the hands of Allmightie god my maker & to Jesus Christ my Redemer through whose death & passion I hope to be saved & to the holy ghost my Comforter thre gracious god in the glorious trinitie & my body I commend to the earth from whence it

ITEM I do give & bequeath to the pore people of Langall & Kirstead (blurred, possibly 5 shillings) of Lawful English money to be distributed & payed by Willm my Sonne whear most need ix
ITEM I Do give & bequeath unto Willm my Sonne all my messuages houses buildings Lands Rents & handitamente aswell freehould or charter Lands & tentey [abbreviation for tenements??] coppie hould & customary Lands or tenemente sea? lyinge & beinge in Langhall before said, Kirstead, Seething or any whear in the countie of Norff - EXCEPT one CLOSSE called Borke [or Berke] CLOSE & Nerteynd CLOSE & Pighally? [and one?] called by the name of Newton & one other

ITEM I Do give and bequeath unto Margaret my Daughter the wife of Robet Kettle the some of five & twenty pounds of Lawfull English money to be paid unto her her Exorecte or Asse [abbrev. for Assignes] by Willm my Sonne his heires Asse at the feast of the purification of our blessed Ladye St. Marye the Virgine Wh [abbrev. for Which] shall be in the yeare of our Lourd god one thousand five hundred ninety & six:
ITEM I Do give & bequeath unto Dorothie my Daughter the wife of Walter Woodiard the like sume of five & twenty pounde of like money to be payed unto her by the said

ITEM I Do give & bequeath unto Anne my Daughter the wife of Francis Metcalf the like sum of five & twenty pound of like money to be payed unto her by the said Willm my Sonne his heires Asse at the feast of the purification of our Ladye Wh shall be in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand and five hundred ninety & eight:
ITEM I Do give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my Daughter the wife of Thos Brerton the like sume of five & twenty pounds of like money to be payed unto her by the said Willm my Sonne his Executors Asse at the feast of the purification of our Lord [this is definitely "Lord" but probably should be Ladye] Wh shall be in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand five hundred ninety & nine:
[p. 6] ITEM I do give & bequeath unto Alice my daughter the like sume of five & Twenty pounds of like money to be paid unto her by the sd Willm my Sonne his heires or Asse at the said feast of the purification of our Ladye Wh shall be in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred:
ITEM I do give & bequeath unto Mary my Daughter the like sume of five & Twenty pounds of like money to be payed unto her by Willm my Sonne his heires or Asse at the sd feast of the purification of our Ladye Wh shall be in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred & one.
ITEM I Doe give & bequeath unto Dyany my Daughter the sume of thirty pounds of like money to be payed unto her by the said Willm my sonne his heires or Assignes at the said feast of the purification of our Lady Wh shall be in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred & two. All Wh payments I will & my mind is

ITEM I Do give & bequeathe unto Willm Kettle the sonne of the said Margaret my Daughter the sume of five pounds of like money to be paid unto him at the age of one & twenty yeares or wthin one month after by the said Willim my Sonne his heires or Asse uppon reasonable request unto him or them made in or at my mansion house aforesaid -
ITEM I give & bequeath unto Mary Woodyard the Daughter of the Said Dorathie my Daughter the like some of five pounds of like money to be payed unto her at the age of one & twenty yeares or wthin one month after by the said Willm my Sonne his heires or Asse uppon reasonable request by her or them made in or at the place aforesaid:
ITEM I Do give & bequeath unto Elizabeth Metcalf the Daughter of the said Anne my Daughter the
[p. 8] like sume of five pounds of like money to be payed unto her at her age of one & twenty yeares or wthin one month after by the said Willm my Sonne his heires or Asse uppon reasonable request made unto him or them in or at the place aforesaid provided always and my Will & mind is that if Willm my sonne shall not pay all & any my Debts aforesaid and to whom said due and also shall not pay all & other the aforesaid legacies & gifts above by me given & bequeathed in such manner & forme as is above rehearsed that then & after such default of any payment made by my said sonne Willm I will & my mind is that my executores of this my testament & last will shall enter into these house & close or grounds hereafter following VISt.

ITEM I do give & bequeath unto the sd Wmy my Sonne my aforesaid the CLOSSE called berk Closse & Newton Closs And Pightelly and Cathesegge Closse wtH herein
[p. 10] Appurtenances houses & barnys in Langhall & Kirstead afore said to him & his heires uppon condition that he do pay or cause to be payed unto my three sonnes Robrt George & Phillip the sume of two hundred pounds of Lawfull English money that is to say - to Robrt fower skore pounds and to George three skore pounds & to Phillip three skore pounds to be payed unto them & any of them in such manner and forme as is hereafter sett downe VIZt.
To the said Robrt at the feast of the purification of our Lady St. Mary the Virgin whch shall happen right after he shall attayne & come to the age of one & twenty yeares at or in my said now dwelling house the sum of five & twenty pounds & at the said feast of the purification of our Lady whch shall happen such tyme
[p. 11] & each? Year after that other xxv pound at or in the said place or at the same feast of the purification of our Lady whch shall happen such time and yeares after the age or in the place aforesaid thirtye pounds in full payment of the sd fowor skore pounds
and to the said George at the feast of the purification of our Ladye in & for & ymediatly ousainge after the before said first payment be payed or due unto the sd Robrt my sonne as aforesaid at or in the place afore said five & twenty pounde & at the same feast of the purification of our Ladye such tyme three years after that other five & twenty pound at or in the place aforesaid & at the same feast of the Purification of our Ladye whch shall happen such tyme three years after that

and to the sd Phillip myh sonne at the purification of our Ladye whch and ymediatly ensuinge after the aforesaid first payment be payed or due unto the said George my sonne his aforesd at or in the place aforesd five & twenty pounde & at the same feast of the purification of our Ladye such tyme three yeares after that at or in the place aforesd other five & twenty pound & at the same feast of the Purification of our Ldaye such tyme three years after that at or in the place aforesaid tenne pounds in full payment of the sd L & Cs.
ITEM I will & my mynd is that if any of my three youngest Daughters VIZt Alice Mary & Dianye or any of my three sonnes Robert
[p. 13] George or Phillip or any of my Daughters said children do depart out of this world before the tyme that their Legacyes be Due unto them, at such dayes & tymes as is above expressed that then their gift & Legacye allso shall Dye & remayne whollye unto the said Willm my sonne & his heires but if any of my said fower older daughters VIZt Margaret Dorathie Anne & Elizabeth Do Departe this world before such tyme as their Legacies before given unto them be due, that their gifts & Legacyes herein expressed shall remayne & be unto their Husbands their heires & Asse _________ _________ ffurther & my mind & will is that the Wmy my sonne his heires or Asse shall not pay or cause to be payed unto my aforesaid three sonnes Robert - George -
[p. 14] And Phillip the aforesaid summe of two hundred pounde before unto them bequeathed in such manner & forme as is above expressed in this my Testament & last will (If they shall be livinge) that then the said three closs called the berke closse, Newton closse & Pighelly & Cattesegge Close Each all and singuler the appurtenances ________ shallbe and remayne And I do give bequeath them unto the said Robrt George and Phillip my sonnes and their heires and such of them and his or their heires unto them any Sume or Sumes of money as is aforesd shallbe unpayed & not satisfied any thinge before paid to them doufrey not withstanding?
ITEM I do give & bequeath unto Margaret my Daughter one feather bed with the bedstead & all her things thereunto belonging Any that stands in the little chamber by the plour [parlour] at my sd mansion house
ITEM I Do give unto Alice my Daughter my wives best

ITEM I will that all my aforesaid Sonnes & Daughters and all other ysany herein expressed whove any thinge by this my last will And Testament given or bequeathed shall xpreplive uppon the rerivphe of their legacyes shall & deliver by their goode his letofinhaunne or other dishardye susfrieipe in the Lawe for the sume diher unto my said Sonne Willm or myne Exerule if they shall wodrid ya from them.
ITEM I will and my mind is that Walter Woodyard my sonne in Law shall have the occupation of my Sd House & Lands aforesaid whch shallbe willing hereunto vuhll the feast of St. wenhaoll Charkardgoli Wh shallbe in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand five hundred & ninety & Seaven payed unto my Sune Willm such money & fearme & formminge such __________ any he should or ought to have paid unto me:
ITEM I will and my mind is that Willim my Sonne after the said feast of St. Wcrihadll 1597 or after such tyme as the sd Walter Woodyard shall give on the occupation of my sd Lands and Tente. In manner & forme & uppon such conditions as aforesaid:
And further my mind and will is that the said Willm my sonne shall have & enioy all my Lease Lands whatsoever and all my stock goods & the chattells bothe moveable any ymoveable of what kind or condition said household stuff & yuixlewireute whatsoever (Except before givine or bequeathed) any wholive Any if do occupie the same ymediately after my decease to fhnihent that so do pay my debts & performs this my last will in all respects and my will & metruige is And I do charge the said Willim my Sonne honestly and decently to see my

ITEM Ffurther I do make and ordayne Ffrancis Metcalf & Walter Woodyard my sone in Lawe myne Executors of this my last will & Testament tro be assistante unto my sd Sonne Willim & to see this my last will & Testament performed in all respects - my Debts to be payed & my children brought upp by my said sonne Willim: And for their payids herein to be taken. I do give to either of them the sd Francis and Walter the sume of five pounds of Lawfull English money to be payed by the sd Wmy my sonne his heirs or Asse within one yeare after my Deceasse And I ordayne my brother in Law Erasmas Stanhowe to be my Suprise [abbrev. for Supervisor] And I do give him for
