First Generation

1. James Jarman was born 12 Mar 1777. He died 28 Apr 1829.

James married Rachel Givan, daughter of George Givan and Martha Read, on 26 Jan 1801. Rachel was born 20 Nov 1782. She died 10 May 1845.

They had the following children:

2 i. George Jarman was born 22 Dec 1803 and died 1850.

 Notes for Martha Read:

Mrs. Rees S. Jarmon's (nee Clara Sterling) chart shows Martha Read with no mother's name listed and "Worcester Co., MD, 1776, Estate of Jacob Read" listed in the usual father's position.

Dale Cantrell ([email protected]) of Liberty, TN has her as "George Givan m. Martha Laws Reed, d/o Elijah Laws. She m. first a Reed and had two ch. Then he died at "the party" and she m. her cousin, George Givan."

 

Second Generation

2. George Jarman (James) was born 22 Dec 1803. He died 1850,

Note says: Buried at what is now Riverville [sp?] Cemetery, died when George Warner Jarman was 16 or 17. Children: George Warner Jarman (16 Jun 1836 - 29 Mar 1922), Rachel Ann Jarman, William Handy Jarman, Martha Adeline Jarman (married John Warren).

Named children rearranged by order given by 1850 Worcester Co., MD census: George Jarmon - 46 farmer, Leah 43, William H. 21, Martha A. 18, George W. 14, Rachel A. 9. [census data per Gerry Koller]

George married Leah Powell on 20 Apr 1827. Leah was born 1803. She died 1878.

Married 2nd to Mr. Gray.

George and Leah had the following children:

Third Generation

5. George Warner Jarman (George, James) was born 16 Jun 1836. He died 29 Mar 1922.

Notes say: George and Sarah were members of the Old School Baptist Church, Route 374. Powellville, Maryland (between Snow Hill and Salisbury). In 1964 the clerk of the records of the church was William S. Adkins, of Mardella [sp?], Maryland. This church has no cemetery. Another note lists an Indiantown Baptist Church, RD # 1, Box.36, Berlin MD (Snow Hill is penciled in beside this address) with an Elder Arthur R. Warren as Pastor.

George Warner Jarman (16 Jun 1836-29 Mar 1922) md., 7 Dec 1858, Sarah Ann Brittingham (20 Jul 1839-3 Apr1931). Children: Charles H. Jarmon (6 Feb 1870-10 Oct 1960, md. 21 Mar 1894 to Sarah Elizabeth Staton {20 May 1875-29 Dec 1945}), Ida Jarmon (1873-196x, md. Harold J. Holloway). "Ida has 5 brothers and 4 sisters." George married Sarah Ann Brittingham on 7 Dec 1858. Sarah was born 20 Jul 1839. She died 3 Apr 1931.

Fourth Generation

7. Lambert Nathaniel Jarmon (George Warner, George, James) was born 18 Dec 1867. He died 29 Mar 1936.

Lambert married Della Mae Hudson.

8. Charles Henry Jarmon (George Warner, George, James) was born 6 Feb 1870. He died 10 Oct 1960.

Previously had Charles H. Jarmon (6 Feb 1870-10 Oct 1960) per Mrs. Rees S. Jarmon. Middle name of Henry from Natalie Jarmon.

Charles married Sarah Elizabeth Staton on 21 Mar 1894. Sarah was born 20 May 1875. She died 29 Dec 1945.

They had the following children:

11i.Rees S. Jarmon.
  Rees married Clara Sterling.

Information, names, birth and death dates and places, for individuals #s 1-13 (excepting #7) is from Mrs. Rees S. Jarmon (nee Clara Sterling), 14 Kells Avenue, Newark DE, by letter to Caroline Molthan Wurts, postmarked November 26, 1964, and a few other relatives in the area. (Mrs. Rees S. Jarmon at that time was "Chapter registrar for the DAR and past State registrar and chairman of lineage research".) (the letter is written on stationery of the Cooch's Bridge Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Newark, Delaware

9. Ida Jarmon (George Warner, George, James) was born 1873 in of Berlin, Worcester, MD. She died 196x in see notes.

B. 1873 (age 90 in 1963); d. 196_, possibly at 207 or 209 Broad St., Berlin, Worcester Co., MD. Had 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She was reportedly in possession of the Jarman Family Bible in 1964. Ida's parents were members of the Old School Baptist Church, Route 374, Powellville, Maryland ("between Snow Hill and Salisbury", although I find Powellville on the map to be between Berlin and Salisbury). Ida is an aunt of Mrs. Handy Truitt.

Ida married Harold J. Holloway.

A note indicates that his father was a member of the Old School Baptist Church, Powellville, Maryland.

Harold and Ida had the following children:

13 i. Gertrude Holloway.

Residence in 1964: Mrs. William H. Johnson, Old Post Road RD #2, Newark, Delaware.

Gertrude married William H. Johnson.


This information was compiled from information from interviews, notes and correspondence collected by my mother, Caroline Reed Molthan Wurts, in the 1960s-'70s., while pursuing information on our Reed family of Snow Hill, Worcester Co., Maryland.     I have made an effort to transcribe the notes and charts accurately, but there may possibly be some inaccuracies.
