Special thanks to my mother Dorothy Pauline Walker Dotson who recorded many of these stones

This cemetery was named for Rev Adam Daniel Hodam (1821-1903) and was also called the "Walker Cemetery" at one time. Rev. Hodam kept a diary, and notes and records remain from his writings.
About 1850 Rev Hodam made a deed for church location and cemetery lot off his farm now known as Hodam Chapel and Cemetery. He says upon this lot was erected a commodious log church and here for many years "we had a large and flourishing class, an excellent Sunday School and preaching once a month by the Circuit Rider". Those who assisted in raising this log church were Rev. A. Ward, Anderson Taylor, A Parril, Able Strader, Rev Eli Radabaugh, H. H. Lane, S. Lane, George W. Feathers, D. C. Heaton, James H Hodam, John Wheatman, G. Beverlin, B. D. Corbitt, D. Grady, Wash Greathouse (2nd husband of Mary Jane Boggs Walker ), and John Hodam, who was father of Rev. A. D. Hodam. The Rev. John A. Goff preached the first sermon in this new church, text was 1st John, 3rd chapter, 2nd verse. Others besides Rev. Hodam were Rev. Samuel Sheppard, Rev W. S. Mays, Rev Sam Brannon, Rev Samuel Black, and Rev Radabaugh. The Hodam Chapel Church was razed by fire accidentally about 1880. Later a smaller one was built there which is still standing.

This is a partial listing of those buried in the cemetery and stone markings (information in parentheses or italics is added from my files):
