Will of Robert Farquhar

This the sixteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two, I Robert Farquhar of Fayette County, Washington Township, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory therefore calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.

First of all I order that my body be buryed in a Christian like & a decent manner at the discretion of my Executors ___ And as touching such worldly affairs and esate wherewith it has pleased divine providence to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of in the following manner and form

Imprimis: It is my will and I do order that in the first plaes all my just debts and funeral charges be paid & satisfied 

Item: I will and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Brown five hundred Dollars exclusive of what I gave her before 

Item: I likewise will and bequeath unto my son Robert the farm that I now live on Containing one hundred and nineteen acres of land his heirs & asigns forever 

Item: I will and bequeath unto my son William what is called my Old Plase where on Thomas Shreve now resides Containing one hundred and ten acres to him his heirs and asigns forever 

Item: I will and bequeath unto my three daughters Hester Hannah & Rachel each five hundred Dollars, one horse creature one cow one Bureau one Feather bed & beding with bedsteds one sadle four sheep six Chairs split Bottoms six pewter plates one set tea cups & Caucers with tea pot and Sugar Bown one set knives & forks alll the above to be in value equal to what I gave to my two oldest Daughters Sarah & Mary 

it is my will that my Executors pay the Cash Legacies to my Daughter if they have collected on much of my outstanding debts in twelve months after my dec. but if not collected they are to wait untill it can or be made out of the fruit that will grow on my orcheds. Except my Daughters Rachel's legacy which I do order my Executors to keep in their hands until she the said Rachel should Marry or arive to the age of Eighteen years and in ether case I do allow & order my Executors to pay her legacy to her as soon as legally Demanded and for the use of said Legacy or money, I do alow my Executors to have the sd Rachel taught to be what would be a good shelter & fixed her victualling and Clothing. During sd time though it is to be remembered that Hester & Hannah has got their sadles alluded to above __

Item: I do will and bequeath unto my two sons Robert and William all my personal Estate of all Kinds whatever ther may be both in Doors and out by them paying the legacies as described before and it is my will that if any differences should arise with respect of Dividing my personal property or anything respecting this my will I do alow and request the Concerned to call Samuel Cope, Nath Stephens and John D. Cope to settle and help Divide or Compromise any and all of sd Disputes in all cases a majority to be final there is a saw on William Griffiths Place which I do order and alow the proceeds to be equally divided between the said Robert and William 

Item: I will and bequeath fifty Dollars to Jean the Daughter of My Margaret Rees formerly Margaret Moon which fifty Dollars is in the hands of James D. Cope which I do order & alow the said James to pay the interest of said fifty Dollars every year for schooling the said Jane and when she arives to the age of receiving sd Legacy I do order and alow the sd James D. Cope to pay the sd fifty Dollars to the before mentioned Jean but if the sd Jean should die before she should arive to that age the sd fifty Dollars to be paid to my two sons Equally...

Item: I likewise Constitute make ordain my only and Sole Executors of this my last will & Testament Ratifying this & no other to be my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have herein set my hand & seal the day & year first above written

On the 2 day of August Anno Domini 1822 personally appeared before me Alexander McClean Register for the Probate of wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said County Andrew _ausburg & James Cope who upon their solemn attestations did severally declare that they saw the testator sign the forgoing and heard him acknowledge the same as his last will and Testament when of disposing mind & memory that they know of no undue influence used or later will made by deceased in Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal of said office at Union. the day and date above mentioned.
