Special Correspondence of THE POST.
WILLIAMSBURG, Oct. 14.--The tournament here to-day was largely attended and was a pleasant success. H. F. Wynkoop, Knight of Flashing Star, crowned Miss Sadie Donegan, of this city, Queen of Love and Beauty; Miss Mollie Cowles, of James City, Va., was crowned first maid of honor by Mr. John Davis; Miss Florence Donegan, second maid, by Mr. Fred Davis; and Miss Sallie McNair third maid, by Mr. Frank Wolf. The other knights participating in the tournament were Horatio Bucktrout, James Smith, Brown Davis, James Harris, Robert Wilkins, John Lively, Eugene Morris and G. A. Muder. The charge to the knights was delivered by Robert I. Armistead, and the coronation address by Dr. A. Monteiro.
The political campaign was opened here last court day by Mr. Thorn, of Norfolk, who spoke to a large crowd of enthusiastic Democrats on the issues involved in the present canvass. He is a fine speaker and made a good impression. The indications are that the Democrats of this district will give Mr. Bowden, Republican, a tight race for the seat in the next Congress, now held by Mr. Libby, Republican.
The board of directors of the Williamsburg Insane Asylum are in quarterly session to-day, giving out contracts for furnishing supplies, etc. Robert A. Bright was re-elected president and D. Gardner Tyler president pro tem. for the next twelve months.
The Democrats of Williamsburg will ask to have Sidney Smith, esq., appointed Federal supervisor for the November election.
