COL. HENDERSON gave a splendid dancing party at his residence on Monday evening last. We dropped in just in season to partake of the repast so bounteously spread by Mrs H. Social parties are getting very frequent, and in fashionable display, sumptuous fare, and unexceptionable character, they cannot be excelled "away down East."
DUEL.--A sanguinary duel was fought yesterday evening, between Wm. P. McCure and R. E. Whitsitt, both young men and citizens of Denver. The battle ground was near Cherry Creek, one mile above the city--weapons, revolvers. At the first fire McClure fell, shot through the groin, it was first thought fatally, but when we went to press, at midnight, it was the opinion of his physician that he would recover. Whitsitt was unhurt. About two hundred persons were present. Will give particulars next week.
