The Slave Case Still Alive.
The Slave Case Still Alive.

The Slave Case still Alive.

We had expected, that our remarks last week upon this case, and which have been republished in the Pennsylvanian, would conclude the necessity of again referring to the subject; but subsequent information compels us to notice it once more. We are credibly informed that our District Attorney, Mr. Brundage, has been requested by the Prosecutors of Deputy Marshall Wynkoop and his assistants, to prefer Bills of Indictment against them at the ensuing Sessions of our Court! It seems that a second attempt is to be made by that miserable association of fanatics in Philadelphia, to harrass these gentlemen still further. After a full and careful investigation of the facts of the case, before a tribunal of superior jurisdiction, these U. S. Officers, have been discharged; should they now be made to answer at [the last three words are hidden by a fold in the paper-chw]? What our Prosecuting Attorney will do in the case remains to be seen; but unless we very much mistake his character and mettle, his known support of the Fugitive Slave Laws, and regard for the Union, it will be found difficult to force him to continue a once discharged Prosecution of this character unless compelled by the Laws of Pennsylvania.
We stated last week our belief, that the opinion of Judge Grier in this case, would be sustained by all sound legal men; and that we may not be accused of factiousness by any one, we this week publish the whole of Judge Grier's decision, in order that an intelligent community may pass upon its merits,--believing public opinion to be seldom wrong.
