SWORD PRESENTATION.--Last evening at the Planter's House a most beautiful sword and scabbard were presented to Major E. W. Wynkoop, of the 1st, by Capt. J. R. Shaffer, on behalf of himself and Lieut. H. H. Hines. Capt. Shaffer presented the sword in a near speech, which was beautifully and eloquently responded to by Major Wynkoop. A large number of officers and gentlemen were present, and the occasion was a very happy one. The sword is a very valuable one, and of the finest steel. The scabbard is highly and beautifully ornamented with gold, and bears the inscription--"Presented to Major E. W. Wynkoop by his friends Capt. J. R. Shaffer and Lieut. H. H. Hines, of the 1st Cavalry of Colorado."
