The Arrival Of The First.
The Arrival Of The First.

THE ARRIVAL OF THE FIRST.--Back again to the scenes of their first enlistment, and to the camp which was their first home as soldiers came the glorious First Regiment of Colorado. The heroes of three victorious engagements. Yesterday the tops of the houses were crowded with spectators, and the streets were lined with eager crowds to greet those men who have by their prowess saved two territories to the Union, the "Pet Lambs of Colorado."
The escort consisted of the Third Regiment, who appeared very finely under the command of Lieut. Col. Curtis. The procession was led by Col. Chivington, Maj. Wynkoop, and other officers of the First. Then followed the Third Regiment. Then the First by companies. The boys looked a good deal as if they had been doing service during the last year but very jolly and happy too, and not an eye that saw them but was bright with welcome.
After the Regiments came the Governor's Guards, and then the baggage train. The whole crowded its way through the principal streets of the city, and returned to Camp Weld, where very extensive preparations have been made for their reception.
We are glad to see those familiar faces among us. They are old friends, and more than that they are heroes and veterans whom we honor.
We are sure they will remember that their well and worthily won laurels should not be tarnished while they are in a state of repose and quiet by unseemly and unsoldierly behavior, but that by their obedience of those laws which tend to the preservation of the peace of quiet citizens, they will add greater lustre to the honors they have already won. Again we say a hearty welcome to the First Regiment of Colorado Volunteers.
