Attempting to act as peacemaker in a scuffle which started over failure to pay 20 cents admission to a skating rink, Lester Willard Wyncoop, 22 years of age of 127 West Eighty-fourth street was shot and fatally wounded by Harry J. Gold, special officer at the rink, according to testimony at Gold's preliminary hearing yesterday before Municipal Judge Chambers on a charge of murder. He was held to answer without bail.
Rose Morgan, 16, of 450� East Twentieth street, testified she heard Wyncoop say he was going to stop a fight between Gold and Sam Nen, 3711� Wall street, at the skating rink last October 27. Lois Sidney, 16, of 330 East Sixty-fifth street, also saw the scuffle but both girls fled before Gold shot. Nen testified to his argument with Gold and to the shooting of Wyncoop as he walked toward the two combatants with his fists clenched.
