WITNESS AGAINST OFFICER TELLS OF FATAL BATTLE

A watchman who is accused of having shot a man in a gate-crashing row at a roller skating rink yesterday went to trial before Superior Judge Willis charged with murder.
The defendant is Harry J. Gold, charged with killing Lester W. Wyncoop, who sought to stop a fight in front of a skating rink at 126 West Slauson avenue last October 27.
First witness called against the defendant was Sam Nen, whose effort to return to the skating rink is asserted to have precipitated the trouble in which Gold drew a gun to keep the youth from entering.
Nen testified that while he was fighting with Gold, Wyncoop appeared and stopped the fight, and that Wyncoop and Gold went into the vestibule and he heard a shot fired.
Immediately afterward, he said, Gold came toward him with a gun in his hand, and he knocked him down and caused his arrest.
Three major prosecution witnesses awaiting the call of Dep. Dist.-Atty. Crail to the witness stand were Rose Morgan, Beryl Abby and Lois Sidney.
