LOCAL MATTERS.

THE DUEL, which was to have come off to-day, was amicably settled after the parties had reached the ground. Near fifteen hundred spectators had assembled prior to the compromise. We have not learned the conditions of the settlement.

Notes:

This is the follow up article to the one that referred to a duel set to take place, probably between Ned Wynkoop and Park McClure, in December of 1860. The Rocky Mountain News is uncharacteristically mum on the names of the participants, suggesting that there might have been some personal interest involved here.
