HANDY MAN OF
WYNEKOOPS SAID
TO BE MISSING

John Van Pelt, 69 years old, once handy man in the home of Dr. Alice Lindsay Wynekoop at 3406 West Monroe street, is reported to have disappeared. This was revealed yesterday when petition for a writ of habeas corpus was filed in his behalf before Chief Justice Philip J. Finnegan in the Criminal court.
Van Pelt, regarded as a possible witness in the case of Dr. Wynekoop, who will go on trial on Jan. 4 on a charge of murdering her daughter-in-law, Rheta, was last seen a week ago Sunday, according to Attorney Frank Tyrrell, who filed the petition for the writ. At that time, according to Attorney Tyrrell, Van Pelt left the home of a friend, James Simmons, Kedzie avenue and Monroe street, with two men who said they "wanted to talk to him."
Attorney Tyrrell said that he had been informed that the men were the sane pair who seized Van Pelt for questioning shortly after the murder.
