LAST NIGHT'S REPORT.

The Fort Garland Scare.
We are informed by Col. J. M. Chivington, that the story of the "Rise" near Garland, which we published yesterday morning upon the authority of Major E. W. Wynkoop "has not the slightest foundation in truth."
Major Wynkoop owes it to himself to explain, over his own signature, his share in what appears to be an attempt to "sell" the public. He assures us he can do it, and for the honor of the service to which we owe so much, we shall most cheerfully give him every opportunity.

GONE SOUTH.--That dear soul of a soldier Soule, leaves on the coach south this morning for Fort Garland, on special recruiting service. He goes to give veterans an opportunity of re-enlisting, and secure the munificient [sic] bounties now offered by the government, of over four hundred dollars. We think he will have little trouble in persuading the entire number of troops in that neighborhood to book themselves for another term, which will be brief, and a wind up, to the secesh affidavit. May the Lord be with you friend Soule, and may your most ardent anticipations be fully realized.
