LETTERS FROM OUR VOLUNTEERS.

From the 7th Reg. Pa. Cavalry, Col. G. C. Wynkoop, Commanding.

            CAMP CRITTENDEN, JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA.}
                                                             January 18th, 1862.         }
    EDITORS MINERS' JOURNAL:--Our camp is situated in a very pleasant place and the men are all in high glee, as they have all been paid off; but what I wish to speak of most is, the division of our Regiment into three Battalions, and the staff officers that have been appointed. The first one is, James H. B. Warfield, the Adjutant of the 3rd Battalion, which in my humble opinion, was the wisest appointment that has been made. He has proved himself to be worthy of the position and if we should ever meet the enemy, he will not falter, but will win a name that a grateful country will hand down to posterity. He is Adjutant of the third Battalion, with the rank of 1st Lieut. I will write soon again, and give you the other appointments. Yours, with respect.
                                                            A SOLDIER.
