GAVE AWAY HIS NEW COAT.

Curious Mistake of a Sympathetic
Physician at Bellevue.

Thomas Connolly of 758 Seventh Avenue, street-car conductor, is the way a man described himself last night as, covered with bruises and bleeding from many cuts, he called at Bellevue Hospital and asked for treatment.
Dr. Henry Wynkoop dressed the man's injuries, and, warning him to take good care of himself, volunteered to assist him put on his coat. Dr. Wynkoop had taken off his own coat, a part of a new suit just received from his tailor.
In his sympathy for the man he did not notice until later that he had picked up the wrong coat--his own--and put it on Connolly. In the doctor's coat were a handsome meerchaum pipe, several important letters, and a bank book.
A friend told the doctor afterward that he had seen his patient strolling along Twenty-sixth Street puffing contentedly at the meerchaum. The police had not recovered the coat at a late hour.
