COLONEL HOLMES TO CAPTAIN WYNKOOP

                         Ticonderoga, December 7, 1775.
    SIR: I have received a copy of the resolve of the New-York Provincial Congress, dated November 3d, directing that �13 8s. 7d. be stopped out of the pay of Thomas Hampton, James Davenport, and Henry May, deserters from your company.
    You will make an immediate stoppage in their pay, to reimburse the said sum paid for apprehending said deserters and bringing them to Albany, and the expenses attending that service, so that you may account to me for the same, the Congress having, in this resolve, directed me to account to them.
    I am your humble servant,
