For the Sake of the Seaman.

A meeting was held last night at the Western Presbyterian Church, at which Rev. T. S. Wynkoop presided, for the purpose of arousing interest in missionary work among seamen. Rev. Dr. Weatherspoon, chaplain of the Seamen's Retreat, for whom the meeting held, delivered a lengthy address, explaining the progress of the work in New Orleans and showing the need for missionary efforts among sailors. Brief addresses were also delivered by Senator Vance, of North Carolina; Commander Brown and Lieut. Wadham, of the navy; Chaplain Kramer, of the Seamen's Retreat in this city, and Rev. T. S. Wynkoop. The congregation was a small one.
