Honor to the Late Col. Wynkoop.

HONOR TO THE LATE COL. WYNKOOP.--At a meeting of the soldiers of the Mexican War, held in Pittsburg last week, the following resolutions were adopted:--
Resolved. That in the death of Colonel F. M. Wynkoop we have lost a tried and sincere friend, a brave, warm-hearted and gallant soldier, and the volunteer force of our commonwealth, and the nation, one of its proudest, highest and most distinguished ornaments.
Resolved. That in his rapid promotion from a private in the ranks to the highest office in the gift of his regiment, we recognize those elements of character, which, upon the field of battle, in the face of danger and of death, and under every and all other circumstances, calculated to test capacity and courage, never deserted, but were always with him, giving assurance of success, and commanding results among the highest of record on the many pages of our country's glory.
    Resolved. That although
"He sleeps his last sleep, and has fought his last battle,"
and
"No sound can awake him to glory again,"
we will cherish his recollection in our innermost hearts, and keep forever green the flowers of a fadeless affection with which to bedeck and adorn the last resting place of our brave, chivalrous and gallant comrade of the tented field, who
"After life's fitful fever, sleeps well."
Resolved. That to his afflicted and bereaved wife, we tender the sincerest and truest sympathies of a soldier's nature and a soldier's love, and beg to share with her the cup of sorrow which an All Wise Heavenly Father has commended to her lips, assuring her that his life and character are a proud and honored heritage, and that
"Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannnot cure."
Resolved. That in token of our regard for our late friend and brother soldier, we will wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
Resolved. That a committee of five be appointed by the Chairman of this meeting to forward a copy of these proceedings to the family of the deceased, and that they also be published in the city papers.
