Health Better, Dr. Wynekoop
Begs for Second Murder Trial
_____

Chicago, Feb. 17 (AP).--Dr. Alice L. Wynekoop, reported by physicians to be much improved in health, tonight pronounced herself ready and anxious to go on trial for the second time Monday for the operating-table death of her daughter-in-law, Rheta, last November 22.
The ailing woman physician, who recently observed her sixty-third birthday anniversary in the county jail, was said by attendants to have steeled herself for the rigors of the trial.
"Dr. Wynekoop is in better health than at any time since she was arrested," said Dr. Francis W. McNamara of the county jail staff. "I [missing] through the second trial without collapse."
Heart disease and high blood pressure, which appeared to be menacing the defendant's life, halted the first trial in its twelfth day as the prosecution was about to wind up its case.
In a statement to the police, later repudiated, Dr. Wynekoop admitted shooting Rheta, but claimed the girl was dead at the time from an overdose of chloroform administered during a physical examination.
