Chas. Philip Marion, Captain; Frank De La Mar, 1st Lieutenant; E. W. Wynkoop, 2d Lieutenant; Wm. M. Slaughter, 3d Lieutenant; John W. Lee, M. D., Surgeon; Chas. A. Lawrence, Orderly Sergeant; J. B. Caven, 2d Orderly Sergeant; Geo. H. Bryant, 3d Orderly Sergeant; Jerry M. Lewis, 4th Orderly Sergeant; R. O. Chappel, 1st Corporal; F. Meserve, 2d Corporal; Walter J. Welch, 3d Corporal; David J. Griest, 4th Corporal; Geo. L. Moody, Color Serg't; A. M. Allen, Commissary; John C. Moore, Quarter Master; D. Washington Griffey, Bugler.
The company also adopted a constitution and by-laws for their government, when not in actual service; when in actual service, they will be under the same laws and regulations as govern the troops of the United States army.
The constitution provides that the company shall be a cavalry company, of not over one hundred men and that each man shall be armed with a sabre, Sharp's target rifle, and two of Colt's navy revolvers; also, that the members of the company shall be enrolled for the term of five years, from the first day of January, 1860, subject to the order of the commanding officers of the company.
The extent of territory over which this company intend to range, is the proposed Territory of Jefferson, which includes a portion of the Territories of Kansas, Nebraska, Utah and New Mexico.
The uniform of the company will be of blue broadcloth frock coat and pants, with yellow trimmings, the hat of black felt, with a plume of ostrich feathers for the commissioned officers, and of white horse hair for the ranks.
The members of the company are picked, and are as fine a body of men as can be found in any country. Success, we say, to the Jefferson Rangers.
