Conditions in British India.

The lecture to-night under the auspices of the National Geographic Society is by Rev. T. S. Wynkoop, on "India; Characteristics of Her People and Government." Mr. Wynkoop was for eight years in India, whence he has only recently returned. Incidentally he will speak of the famine and the conditions which led to such widespread distress. The English colonial system in India, which is entirely dominated by strict civil service rules that base promotion on merit, will also be discussed. The lecture will be given in the Congregational Church, Tenth and G streets, at 8 o'clock.
