Notes & Acknowledgement:

Richard Wynkoop, in the 1904 edition of the Wynkoop Genealogy in the United States of America, has this to say about Henry Wynkoop, the 4th son of Garret Wynkoop and Hilletje Fokker, on page 22:

Children of Gerret and Hilletje Wynkoop:
41. Maria: bp. Kingston, N. Y., June 3, 1694; the mother's name recorded Hillitje Gerrits. She married Abraham Vandegrift, of Bensalem, Penn. [van der grift = from the canal]
42. Jacoba: bp. Kingston, N. Y., Mch. 22, 1696; her name recorded Jacomijntje, and her mother's Foocken. She married, June 27, 1718, Joseph Buskark, and her name is recorded Jacominea. Judge Henry Wynkoop has her name as Jemima, and her husband's as George Buskirk, of Moreland [Bosch-kerk = forest church].
43. Anne: bp. Kingston, N. Y., Aug. 21, 1698: m. Isaac Van Meter, of Salem, N. J., who removed to the South Branch of the Potomac, Va.
44. Cornelius: bp. Jan. 1, 1701: m. Helena Vandegrift.
45. Gerrit: bp. Nov. 19, 1702: m. Susannah Van Vliet.
46. Nicholas: bp. Feb. 18, 1705: m. Anne Kuypers.
47. Henry: bp. Oct. 19, 1707. He is said to have died a bachelor, in Salem, N. J. But there is a record of marriage, Sept. 12, 1737, of Sarah Du Bois, to Henry Wynkoop, who, probably, was this Henry. [Du Bois = of the forest].
48. Philip: bp. Sept., 11, 1709: m. Margaret Conover.
49. Tobias: bp. Kingston, N. Y., May 3, 1713.

I'd like to thank Tom Wilbur, [email protected], of Okemos, Michigan, for sending this advertisement to me. Currently, this happens to be the earliest newspaper item I have on the Wynkoop family.

As is becoming more and more frequent around here, I managed to mislay this article for some time. (The more information I gather about the Wynkoop family, the more chaotic my filing system becomes.) At any rate, Tom, thanks so much, once again, for your help and interest. I'm very grateful, as you know.

If you have a family clipping that you haven't found on the website here, and you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you. You can contact me at [email protected]. Every piece of family history is valuable.

    All my best,

    Chris
