"Widow Bedott" was presented...
--Last evening the comedy of "Widow Bedott" was presented for the third time this season. The presentation last night by Miss Helen Coleman and company was from the dramatization of those famous papers by Mr. Frank Wynkoop. The Widow was impersonated by Miss Coleman, and differing in many points from the character as produced by Mr. Neil Burgess and Mr. C. M. Bishop, certainly approaches nearer the "Ideal" Widow. While those gentlemen give it an excellent presentation, still there is a noticeable roughness, at times verging on courseness. [sic] There is a material difference between eccentricity and vulgarity, and avoiding this weakness, betrayed by the latter persons, Miss Coleman succeeded admirably--no overacting, while the garrulity and odd characteristics of the Widow are fully brought out. The support is very good, meriting individual mention. It is the best company that has presented "Widow Bedott" here, and is deserving of a full house.--Canton (O.) Daily Depository, Feb. 4, 1882.
