FIRST MAIL RECEIVED.Large Quantity of San Francisco Letters Reach Washington.
The first mail from San Francisco mailed after the earthquake was received in the local post-office early yesterday morning. The quantity was unusually large, and must have been mailed before the fire had made any great headway.
CHEER ON BOX COVER.Mrs. J. A. Wynkoop Hears that Daughter Is Safe in Tent.
Tidings on the cover of a shoe box from hungry loved ones in California were received yesterday by Mrs. J. A. Wynkoop, of 1511 Tenth street northwest. Robert M. Faulkner, of the Pension Office, and his wife and baby are safe in a tent, according to the message.
