LOCAL AFFAIRS

Point to rightMilitary.--The various regiments, and battalions, attached to the First Brigade, Sixth Division, U. P. M., were inspected, and reviewed during the present week. The First Regiment paraded on Monday, and made a very fine appearance. The Scott Artillery of Schuylkill Haven, and Washington Light Infantry of Pinegrove, attracted much attention. The weather was unpropitious during a portion of the day, and interfered somewhat with field evolutions. Some 250 men were in line, and were inspected by Major James Nagle, and reviewed by Brigadier General Reifsnyder and Major General Wynkoop.--The Second Regiment was inspected and reviewed at Tamaqua on Tuesday. The Third at Port Carbon on Wednesday. The Minersville Battalion on Thursday. The Ashland Battalion on Friday. The Fourth Regiment will be inspected and reviewed to-day in Upper Mahantongo township.
There are in this County, twenty-eight companies, with an effective strength, rank and file, in round numbers, of one thousand men. There are few counties in the State that surpass this in military strength, and if Adjutant General Wilson did our companies justice there are several in this County that would have the new and improved government fire-arms. We have been treated shabbily in this respect, and we are not surprised that General Wilson is anything but popular with the military of Schuylkill County. "How not to do it" seems to be a favorite motto with the Adjutant General.
