NIGHT BANK LIGHTS OUT.
_____

Business Transacted by Candles
When Fuse Burns Off.

Because "night and day" electricians are hard to get, the new Night and Day Bank, 45th street and Fifth avenue, was shrouded in the dull gloom of candle light for some time last night. Soon after 8 o'clock a fuse burned out, and immediately all the many electric lights went out. G. M. Wynkoop, the vice-president of the bank, was in the bank at the time. He went out and got candles.
Two candles were then placed before each of the paying and receiving tellers' windows, and business proceeded. The presence of a bicycle policeman before the building and the dim light shining from the windows attracted a crowd. There was no excitement in the bank, however, except that caused by a private detective, who ordered persons about as if there had been another San Francisco disaster. After a long delay an electrician was found and the damage repaired.
