DES MOINES.

    DES MOINES, June 30.--Suit for $50,000 damages for breach of promise was filed against Ferdinand Schmidt, president of Brinsmaid & Co., in District Court by Miss Emily Smith, principal of the Laura Coffee Memorial School at 644 Fortieth street.
    J. O. Clelland, head of the defunct Oak Park Bank, was arrested on a charge of receiving deposits with knowledge that his institution was unsound, and was released on $5000 bonds. The bank closed May 23, 1924. Roy Edie and O. L. Wynkoop, McClelland's partners, are under indictment.
    Word from Shenandoah says the oldest inhabitants of Southwestern Iowa have never seen better prospects for corn in that part of Iowa than now prevail.
