Notes & Acknowledgement:

I'd like to thank Ed Kelley, [email protected], a relative of John's through his 2nd marriage to Amanda F. Rayfor. Ed sent me the picture of John Egbert Farnum that graces this page, as well as a copy of his obituary, which I hope to be able to post in a few days. Ed and his wife Mary, in their spare time, portray Colonel J. E. Farnum and his wife Amanda Ray Farnum for the Civil War Heritage Foundation.

John recovered from these injuries in due time and returned to the fight, where he was injured again at Spotsylvania, later in the war. He died young, at age 46, and yet still managed to live a full and adventurous life. According to his obituary in the New York "Courier," dated May 22nd, 1870, John was a relative of Col. Francis M. Wynkoop.

I would love hear from anyone knowing more about this particular family connection. You can reach me at [email protected].

Ed, thanks again, so very much!

    All my best,

    Chris
