A man of great wit, charm and intelligence who believed in meeting with laughter both the good and bad that life dishes out. Loving and giving husband, father, brother & friend. Student of letters and master of words. Proud and enthusiastic member and "Scribe" of Yale's great Class of 1928. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara Thurston Wynkoop, and is survived by his wife, Ann P. Wynkoop, daughter, Ann Wynkoop, son, Gerardus H. Notes:

I have to say that this is the best written death notice for a family member that I have ever read. I feel deep sorrow that I missed the opportunity to get to meet Gerardus. I'm sure I would have enjoyed knowing him. I've read a few of his notes to the New York Times query page and they were a pleasure to read. Hopefully I'll get to read some of his writings on Yale's class of 1928. There are at least two volumes of that material still in existence.

If you have any recollections of Gerardus that you'd care to share I would love to hear them. Please drop me a line at [email protected].

    All my best,

    Chris
