ANOTHER INDIAN RAID REPORTED.

Another Indian raid is reported in the vicinity of Council Grove. We learn from the Topeka Record that on Saturday evening the Governor received a dispatch from Council Grove, via Junction City, to the effect that eight hundred Cheyennes had left Fort Larned and were moving towards the Grove, for the purpose of again engaging the Kaws in battle.
For the purpose of obtaining accurate intelligence, and of viewing the situation for himself, the Governor, accompanied by the adjutant General left for Council Grove on Saturday night.
The following letter was also received at the Governor's office on Saturday evening:
        Council Grove, Kan.,
            July 17th, 1868.
Gov. S. J.(?) Crawford:
Sir: Mr. Parks, Deputy U. S. Marshall from Ellsworth, arrived here this evening and reports that 1,000 Cheyennes and Arrapahoe Indians left Fort Larned on Saturday last to come to this place to fight the Kaws. 250 of them are off towards the Saline, leaving the balance to come this way. They say they are mad at the whites because they took part with the Kaws. We suppose them to be now about the Turkey Creeks or Cottonwood Holes, and if not stopped by the part of a company of the 5th Infantry at Cottonwood, (of which there is no prospect) they will be here by day after to-morrow.
This is not the party of 800 that left Ft. Larned on the 4th inst. They were after the Osages.
If you could make arrangements to have us informed by telegram and express of the movements of the Indians west(?), it would help us very much.
We also need assistance if this state of affairs is to continue.
        Yours respectfully,
            A. I. B.
