Federal Men Confiscate

Mash and Alcohol

Raiding a large garage and paint shop at 118 West Pico street yeaterday morning, Federal prohibition agents arrested four men and confiscated two seventy-five-gallon stills, 200 barrels of mash, a large quantity of sugar and other raw material and considerable alcohol.
Those under arrest are Sam Rich, 1143 Venice Boulevard, proprietor of two bottle manufacturing plants; Louis Freedmonds, owner of the raided garage; Peter Seggia, 223 West Fifty-seventh street, and George Glacina, 1800 Mozart street. The suspects were arraigned before United States Commissioner Head yesterday afternoon and their bail set at $2000 each. Preliminary hearing was set for next Monday, but a continuance is expected.
Maj. Blain A. Dixon, new chief enforcement officer, and chief Field Agent Wuncoop led the raiding party. The Federal officers declared they believed the place has been in operation about a month.
