Hagerstown, Md., July 4.--Wyncoop L. Shipley, 50 years old, farm laborer, of Downsville, was killed late last night on Downsville pike, when the automobile driven by Dewey Rowland, 35 years old, in which Shipley was riding, struck a telephone pole.
Shipley's neck was broken. Rowland, not knowing Shipley was dead, with the aid of another man took Shipley to a doctor's office at Williamsport. But the physician, not being home, Shipley was then taken to the home of his brother, near Downsville. Today Rowland was jailed on a charge of driving an automobile while intoxicated. A coroner's jury tomorrow night will hold an inquest at Downsville.
