LOCAL AFFAIRS

Point to rightThe Encampment of the Brigade.--The ground on Lawton's Hill has been put in order for the Military encampment to be held in this Borough, on the 29th inst., and to be called "Camp Wynkoop." The tents and marquees have been received from Harrisburg, and everything bids fair for one of the most brilliant encampments ever held in this County. We have no idea of the number of troops which will be present, but we presume not less than eight hundred. It is intimated that some military companies from abroad, will participate, possibly the Ringgold Artillerists of Reading. Gen. Scott, Gen. Patterson, Gov. Packer, and other distinguished officers, have been invited to review the troops.
The Washington Artillerists of this Borough, are practicing the Hardie drill three evenings in the week, which if persevered in by the entire Company, regularly until the Encampment, will make the corps quite au fait in the peculiarly brilliant drill, which recently created such a sensation in the Eastern cities, during the visit of the Chicago Zouaves.
