Colorado Volunteers, Company A.
LOCAL MATTERS.
[More...] COLORADO VOLUNTEERS, COMPANY A--From the report of Dr. W. H. FARNER, Examining Physician, we gather the following facts in reference to the nativity of the volunteers in Capt. Slough's company: New York, 17; Pennsylvania, 14; Ohio, 9; Ireland, 7; Canada, 6; Vermont, 5; Scotland, 4; Illinois, 3; Germany, Virginia, Indiana, England and New Jersey, each 2; Rhode Island, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Wales, Michigan, Missouri and Iowa, each 1. The average height of the men is 5 feet 8 1/4 inches; the tallest man is 6 feet 3 1/4 inches. The Physique of the entire company is most excellent. Dr. Farner informs us that he has never examined a more perfectly formed set of men. They are all healthy, agile fellows, and will doubtless make good soldiers."
