Additional Evidence Against
Ex-Naval Officer Is
Presented to Jury.

Possibility that another indictment may be returned against former Lieut. Comdr. John S. Farnsworth was indicated yesterday when the District grand jury, at the instance of Col. Leslie C. Garnett, United States attorney, and his aid, Samuel F. Beach, introduced additional data to the jury.
The new evidence, it was reliably reported, links the former naval officer with giving confidential information to the Japanese government and, in the event a second count is included also would charge him with conspiring to furnish the confidential information.
Farnsworth already is under indictment on charges that he both furnished, and attempted to furnish, an officer of the Japanese Government with a confidential Naval publication entitled "The Service of Information and Security, 1922" which he is said to have obtained from the desk of Lieut. Comdr. Leslie G. Gehres, in the Navy Department. On that indicment he is being held in the District jail because of his failure to furnish bond of $5,000.
The second investigation, begun yesterday, involved the procuring of confidential information regarding the national defense from Lieut. (J. G.) William S. Pye, now stationed at San Pedro, Calif., and Lieut. Comdr. Thomas P. Wynkoop, stationed at Bremerton, Wash. Neither of the officers, it was officially explained, is involved in the alleged conspiracy except as official Naval officers who were to tell of Farnsworth's activities.
In the event the grand jury returns an additional indictment, Beach explained, it will not be forthcoming until next week.
