Charity Her Mission

Probably no woman in New York devotes more of her time to charity than Mrs. Dr. Wynkoop. Besides being interested in and one of the directors of the Bible and Fruit mission, she was recently made president of the Marion Street Lying-in Hospital, in conjunction with Dr. Thomas Koch. Some of her most active work is in the city prisons, being especially interested in the welfare of the prisoner's little children, who are oftentimes left destitute by their mothers' or fathers' incarceration. -- New York Herald

Note:

In all probability Mrs. Dr. Wynkoop was the wife of Dr. Gerardus Hilles Wynkoop of New York who received a lot of publicity in the newspapers of the times. Her maiden name was Anne Eliza Woodbury. She was the daughter of General Daniel Phineas Woodbury, of the United States Engineer Corps.
