Edward Wynkoop, Jr.

Who was born in Denver sixty years ago, son of Maj. Edward Wynkoop of the First Colorado Regiment in the Civil War, for whom Wynkoop Street is named, was killed in Stockton, Calif., on June 7, when a train struck an automobile and threw it on top of a bench on which five employees of the Southern Pacific Railway were sitting. Four were injured and Wynkoop died.

Mr. Wynkoop was a conductor on the Southern Pacific railway. His father, after his service in the Civil War, attained a considerable degree of fame as an Indian fighter, and when he was retired by President Grant he was made an Indian agent in New Mexico by the president. He served there many years. He was later warden of the New Mexico penitentiary.
