"Geneological Description..."

    First Page:

A geneological Description of the family of Henry Wynkoop, from its origin in America to this day May 12th. 1808; Compiled partly from oral tradition and partly from Family Registers.
    Cornelius C. Wynkoop, early in the seventeenth century, being then a young Batchelor, migrated from Utrecht, in the United Dutch netherlands, to Manhadoes, now Newyork and soon after Setteled at Nertranje, now Albany, where he erected certain water works, which from a want of sufficient knowledge of the Streams were destroyed by a sudden rise of the Waters;
    In consequence of this Disaster, he removed from Albany to Esopus, now Kingston, where he resided, a Farmer until his deceace; leaving four Sons, viz Everardus, Johannes, Gerardus and Benjamin, wether he had any daughters is not known; The three first named, remained at Esopus as Farmers, + until the year 1717, when Gerardus, having sold his Lands and property at that place, removed with his family to Pensylvania and setteled in the township of Moreland, then the County of Philadelphia, now Montgomery when he permitted his name to be anglefied by writing it Gerret, his family then consisted of his Wife Hellena, whose maiden name was Elte, five Sons viz. Cornelius, Gerret, Nicholas, + Henry and Phillip, and three daughters, viz. Mary who was married to Abram Vandegrift of Bensalem, Jacamina, who was

married to George Buskirk of Moreland and Ann who was married to Isaac Vanmetre of Salem in Newjersey who afterwards removed & settled on the south branch of the potomac in Virginia.
    Nicholas Wynkoop, third Son of Gerret wynkoop was born Feb. 9th. 1705--
    On September 29th 1732 he married Ann Kuipers Daughter of Henry Kuipers of Horsymus in the County of Bergen Newjersey -------
    Ann Kuipers was born March ye 20th. 1712 and dyed March 21st. 1773, aged 61 years -----
    Nicholas Wynkoop dyed August ye 3d. 1759, aged 54 years ------------
    Hellena, Daughter of Nicholas & Ann Wynkoop was born Feb. 8th. 1734 ---
    Henry Son of Nicholas and Ann Wynkoop was born Mrch 2d. old style 1737 -
    On Sepr. 10th 1761 he married Susanah Wanshaer only Daughter of John Wanshaer & Christina Egberts of the County of Essex in Jersey -----
    Susanah Wanshaer was born Oct. 29th. 1742 and dyed August 26th. 1776, aged 34 --------
    Christina eldest Daughter of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer was born Augt. 18th. 1763, and was married April 20th. 1786 to Doctr Reading Beatty.
    Ann second Daughter of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer was born Oct. 18th. 1765, and was married Augt. 17th. 1790 to James Raguet

    Margaretta, third Daughter of Henry Wynkoop and Susanah Wanshaer was born Jan: 22d. 1768, and married Nov: 24th. 1789 to Hermaen J. Lombaert Merct of Philadelphia.Point to left*--------------
    Nicholas Wynkoop eldest Son of Henry Wynkoop and Susanah Wanshaer was born March 25th 1770, and April 11th 1793 married Fanney Murray eldest Daughter of Frances Murray and his Wife Martha Camble.-----
    Maria Hellena fourth Daughter of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer was born April 30th 1772, and July 9th 1793 was married to Christian Wirtz, Son of Christian Wirtz & Mary Housen.-------
    * John Wanshaer Wynkoop second Son of Henry Wynkoop and Susanah Wanshaer was born July 11th 1774, and on the 6th of September 1793 fell a Victim to the yellow fever, in Philadelphia, then so fatal to the Inhabitants of that Citty, aged nineteen years.-----------------
    Jonathan Wynkoop, third Son of Henry Wynkoop and Susanah Wanshaer, was born June 21st. 1776,

On the 21st April 1782 Henry Wynkoop married Sarah Newkirk, Daughter of Cornelius Newkirk and Rachel Tenyek of Pitsgrove in the County of Salem Newjersey.
    Susanah Daughter of Henry Wynkoop and Sarah Newkirk was born April 11th 1784. On the 13th Oct. 1808 Susanah was maried to John Lefferts, Son of Arthur Lefferts & Adriana Vanarsdale ----- (This note was added at a later date than the May 12th, 1808 date on the first page - chw)

The Family Register of Henry Wynkoop Continued

1793 April ye 11th. Nicholas Wynkoop eldest Son of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer was Married to Fanny Murray eldest Daughter of Frances Murray & Martha Cambel.
1793 July ye 9th. Maria Hellena fourth Daughter of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer was married to Christian Wirtz Son of Christian Wirtz & Mary Housen
1793 August ye 29th. Hermaen Joseph Lombaert fell a Victim to the Contagious disorder then prevalent in Philadelphia, aged thirty seven years, eminently distinguished for all those Tallents & Accomplishments which render a Man usefull & ornamental to Society.
1793 September ye 6th. John Wanshaer Wynkoop second Son of Henry Wynkoop & Susannah Wanshaer, then a Law Student in Philadelphia & Lodging at the House of Mr. Lombaert, expired by the same fatal Disease, aged nineteen years, a youth of good natural Abillities, great Integrity, Dilligent & Industrious.

Fifth Page:

On the 25th. Febr 1809 Christian Wirtz departed this life.
On the 27th April 1809 Jonathan Wynkoop youngest Son of Henry Wynkoop and Susanah Wanshaer Married Ann Dick Daughter of Camble Dick and Margaret Ledlie late of Philadelphia decd.-------------------
    Sarah Wynkoop Consort of Henry Wynkoop died June 28th. 1813 aged 71.----
    Ann Raguet 2d Daughter of Henry Wynkoop & Susanah Wanshaer departed this life July 23d. 1815 aged 50 years.-----------
