678. JAMES DAVIS WYNKOOP. 7178. Merchant. Born, Hurley, N. Y., Feb. 28, 1843. Son of George Wynkoop and Eleanor Sala Davis; grandson of Derrick C. Wynkoop and Elizabeth Sparling; great-grandson of Cornelius D. Wynkoop and Leah DuBois; gt2-grandson of Derrick Wynkoop and Gertude Cole; gt3-grandson of Major Johannes Wynkoop and Cornelia Ten Broeck; gt4-grandson of Elder Cornelius Wynkoop and Maria Jane Langedyck; gt5-grandson of Peter Wynkoop. Elder Cornelius Wynkoop moved from Albany to Ulster Co. in 1663 and obtained land which has remained in the family nearly two and a half centuries. He held several public offices.
