Here you'll find Richard Wynkoop's first attempt at a Wynkoop genealogy. Called Wynkoop Family; A Preliminary Genealogy, it was published in 1866 by the Press of Wynkoop & Hallenbeck. This was published many years before Richard became a professional Genealogist and before he had widened his circle of acquaintances. There are many mistakes here, including one egregious one. See if you can spot it.

    As an added bonus you will also find a review of the book that was published around the time of it's release. I don't have a source for this review. It was pasted into the front of the book that I obtained my copy from. It is from the New York City area about the time of the book's publication.

    The 1866 edition of Wynkoop Family; A Preliminary Genealogy can now be purchased in book form or CD from Quintin Publications of Orange Park, Florida. This now brings all three of Richard Wynkoop's published Wynkoop Genealogies back in print, good news for all of us.
