Notes and Acknowledgement:

To the best of my knowledge these are the only Wynkoops who served in the Spanish American War. The original information for Charles and Harman Wynkoop came from digitized versions of the Compiled Military Service Records at the National Archives Digital Collection, in Washington, D.C.

For those of you interested in such things, Charles and Harman were sons of Col. Edward Wanshaer Wynkoop, (1836-1891), of Sand Creek fame.

Additional information on Edward M., and Harry B. Wynkoop came from Xeroxes of their General Index Cards that I made in 1999 or so, down at the Philadelphia branch of the National Archives. It was only recently that I rediscovered these among my notes. If anyone has access to the full files for these men and would like to help fill in the large blanks I have in their service records, please contact me at the email address below.

I would like to thank Patricia A. Robinson Cole, [email protected] for answering my query regarding her grandfather on the Ancestry.com Wynkoop Family Message Board. The information she sent me was quite detailed and I'm extremely gratified to add David Henry Wynkoop's name to this list.

Pat, thanks so very much for your help.

If you have additional information on more Wynkoops, or their descendants, who served in the Spanish American War, please contact me at [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you.

    All my best,

    Chris
