The death certificate of Joseph YOUNG (of Ourimbah), indicates thatJoseph was his father and this is confirmed by the Horfield ParishMarriage Register for the marriage of Joseph's son (Joseph) to MaryElizabeth BREADBEER.
The Parish Registers from South Brent, Somerset 1679-1886 (LDS Film1526376 Items 1-8) records Joseph and Mary YOUNG having ten (10)children from 1845 to 1870. They had a son Joseph in 1857 (baptised5-JUL-1857). Records for Arthur YOUNG's father, Joseph YOUNG whoimmigrated to Australia in 1882, indicate he was born in South Brent,Somerset around 1857 and hence the connection is confirmed. Otherdetails can be found in his son Joseph's baptism notes.

A major break through occurred today. Until now I hadn't been able tofind the birth of Joseph Young, although from census records I knew hewas born around 1824. The census records also indicated he was born inChapel Allerton/ South Brent but church records from these parishesturned up nothing (also checked Weare). So I obtained the chruchrecords for three neighbouring parishes - Axbridge (also containedBadgworth), Mark and East Brent. And indeed I found him on the EastBrent records - he was the only Young baptised in the thirty yearperiod I was searching. It listed his parents as Joseph and CharlotteYoung. It is certain the this is the correct Joseph Young because Ihave now gone through the parishes surrounding Chapel Allerton andSouth Brent (where he said he was born on the 1861, 1871 and 1881census returns) and he is the only Joseph Young born in that area forseveral years surrounding 1824. To add even further weight to this wasthe fact that I had found children of Joseph and Charlotte baptised atChapel Allerton and South Brent - so he could have quite easily beenborn in Chapel Allerton or South Brent but just baptised in EastBrent.
