I am interested to know if you and your family would be willing to attend the 1st

~~Three Family Reunion~~

my Dad (Ernest Everett Sr) and I are trying to plan for this summer. My greatgrandparents Samuel and Millie Everett had 3 children and the descendants of those 3 children below will be invited. Two of the families live mostly downstate so we are thinking of the Harrison, MI area for the reunion? To prevent anyone from having a long drive... Please respond with any thoughts or ideas you may have on this.... I am trying to get a contact person for each of the families right now. I know quite a few on the Hewitt side (Pansy) but I don't know many on the Duflo side (Ella) yet.

I need to know if any of you have any other family email addresses that I may not have already-Please forward this to them and ask them to reply back to me so I can add them to my address book.

Some other things to ponder?

Which month works for everyone?? I am thinking beginning of Aug but that is not set in stone. This will be a decision everyone should take part in.

Should we rent a hall (then charge $15-20 per family to help recover most of the cost) or hope to find someplace with a couple pavillions (and still charge $10/fam?) I will include Postage, Printing, Meat, table service, and cleanup... We will have to do potluck...... We can't just do it outside as it could rain that day and then we would be bumming. Does anyone know anyone in the Harrison area that could give us any ideas?

Please note that if we were to overcharge, the money would go into an account and be saved for the following year..unless we really overcharged and then I would make sure that each family got back an equal amount. (I picked these numbers based on my husbands family parties and they are usually around 100 people each time.) I would like to see 150 at this first reunion.

Should we get a spot with a beach for swimming? Would the kids be safe swimming? Should we send invitations to each family? I would like to... I will need addresses-physical mailing addresses- for you, your children's, and each of your siblings? I know that is asking alot.

Should we do an auction? (this might reduce the cost per family overall) Every family brings something small - a Handmade item, knick-knack, or gag-style gifts usually go over well. This has always been a hilariously fun time at the Everett Reunion and we have an auctioneer in the family if we can get him to come????

???or a raffle???? I think this would have to be licensed but I could check on that??

I am really into genealogy so I would need to have a table set up for that as well. Please bring along any genealogy work you have.. and copies of old or current family pictures to share or trade. I will have copies of a family photo of Samuel and Millie with their 3 children at the reunion for those that don't have it. I will bring my laptop and scanner if possible?

Nametags will have to be used. I am thinking each should say name with how you are related to Samuel and Millie Everett? Any ideas here? I could have most made up ahead??

I am also thinking of childrens activities to keep them happy....Jumpropes, ball and gloves, golf putting contest, bubbles, etc... Do you have any ideas? Or games for the adults and teens for getting to know each other such as good icebreaker games??? Any traditions out there??

Maybe a list of overnight accommodations..camping sites..for anyone interested on spending a night in the area?

I think that about covers my thoughts for today. I would like to hear back from each of you. I value your opinion and hope together we can make this a success!!! Let me know if you want to help in any way?
