1975 LETTER - ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Novo mesto, January 17, 1975Dear Mrs. Dorothy M. Radovan,
First, I send you my best regards and wish you much health and happiness in the New Year 1975! I retired already on January 1, 1973, but have taken another job only a few months later and am now working in the office of a commercial firm, Hmeljnik, in Novo mesto. This way, my time passes more quickly and I dont feel so lonely at home. Besides, I can also help my son Joe who is a student at the Department of Economics and hopes to finish his second year this year. Toma , another of my sons, is employed in an office in Ljubljana and, in addition, is a student and would like to finish his first year at the Department of Economics and then, later this year, will go into the service. My oldest son, Bojan, is an engineer and is employed in Kranj, but lives in Ljubljana and is married and has two children, a son and a daughter, who was born yesterday. I rejoice with them and will visit them soon.
As to the vineyard and the forest, I would like to let you know that my sister Mimi and I received last year the decision that they are now our property and that each one owns one half. So this matter has been settled and we are very grateful to everybody.
I began to improve the vineyard already in 1973 and have planted some 300 new vines and intend to plant as many later on because now I have to fix the vineyard cottage where we have installed a new floor in both rooms already last year. This year, I would like to build a new roof with new tiles, and will be quite content if I can manage to do it this year. There are still the doors, the windows, the basement floor, the well and still other reconstruction tasks .
If only God would grant me good health and I could earn something beside my pension, I will be able to fix something every year, because I cannot bear the costs all at once. I am being helped a great deal by my sons and their colleagues. I did get some lumber for the roof from our forest, but also will have to buy some because the fir trees in the forest are still young and not ready to be harvested.
How are all of you? Are you in good health? You can write to me in English, my sons Bojan and Joe will read the letter to me; they are afraid only to write in English because the fear they make too many mistakes.
Best regards! Your Franci Moina and family
